Women in tech talk about HP’s cutting-edge solutions

Women in tech at HP are part of a global laboratory innovating at the intersection of data and the physical world. They work with teams to solve problems in new ways—always pushing to make our technology better and better. We’re inspired by their contributions and the amazing work they do around the globe. Discover some of their stories of opportunity, growth, and career developing.

My lifelong ambition to invent is recognized at HP.

Everyday my role as a computer hardware design engineer in Personal Systems/Research and Development ignites my passion for inventing and innovating. Ever since childhood, I have been fascinated about how things work, and now HP and my team support me in pursuing not one but three invention disclosures. That’s exciting for someone who has been with a company for a little over two years! But what that also says to me is that my work and ambition are recognized, and my ideas are valuable.

There are many opportunities for me to grow my expertise as a computer hardware engineer—working on the electrical subsystems of our Z4, Z6, and Z8 Desktop Workstations. It’s so cool to see these projects go from design to release and know our customers and partners are benefiting from the leading-edge technology HP is continually creating and improving.

Being part of a global laboratory gives me opportunities to see and solve problems in new ways while pushing to make our technology better and better. I get to learn from mentors, community knowledge sharing, and formal training the things they don’t teach you in college. And I share what I learn with other women pursuing careers in engineering. Serving on the HP Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Leadership and Women in Tech action teams, I play a vital role in the recruitment and retention of women in technology. I also have the flexibility to volunteer with the Colorado State University SWE chapter as a professional mentor where I help students learn about future opportunities, give them a chance to network, help them make industry connections, improve their technical skills, and understand how to balance work and personal life.

I love that I am a part of a company that sees me as a person rather than just a resource. And a company where the amazing people who work here really make all the difference in the world and are interested in helping me grow professionally and personally.
