HP Women Share Success Strategies

On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. It’s a time to reflect on how we can work together to promote equality for women.

Our commitment to increasing opportunities for women in the workplace continues to drive progress. Women comprise 37% of our workforce worldwide, which is a strong representation for a technology company, but we have more work to do.

We have a bold vision for what the future can look like, and that future has a lot more women and underrepresented groups contributing to our business and in leadership roles.

Through educational opportunities, mentorship, sponsorship, and employee resource groups—which we call Business Impact Networks—like our Women’s Impact Network (WIN), our goal is to create an ecosystem for employees to support each other and grow together, personally and professionally.

Read about the strategies these four women used to advance their own careers and advocate for their colleagues.

Allegra hones her empathy and leadership skills while building a supportive local community of women.

I always knew networking was important, but leading the WIN chapter in Guadalajara has given me a better understanding of how vital it is to connect with other women.

I strive to build a true sense of sorority with my teammates inside and outside of the workplace. By creating that space to share and listen to each other’s stories in a supportive environment, we’ve built a community of powerful women.

This has made me a more empathetic leader and helped my network reach new levels that we could have not imagined or achieved on our own.

Be it moving to another new country with her family, or understanding a new customer market, when presented with challenges, Angela tackles them head-on.

How do I feel about a challenge? I say, “Bring it on.”

I’m always looking to learn about what customers need. And I love taking risks and testing new ideas to try to figure that out. A challenge is a chance to bring about positive change.

When I joined HP, I moved my family from Korea to Singapore to take on a regional role and was able to advance my career in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies—and thrive. It was the perfect opportunity to develop my skills while also deepening my understanding of our customers in Asia.

As a strategic consultant, mother, and former valedictorian, Dobriyana never stops fearlessly working to learn new things.

How do I unleash my potential? By taking chances and looking for learning opportunities everywhere.

When I received a full HP scholarship, I studied every night after work and attended online classes long distance to complete my MBA in HR management online. And I proudly graduated with honors.

As a mother, I am continually learning about strength, resilience, and love without limits. As a strategic learning consultant, I nurture these same traits in my colleagues. My desire to learn and grow has enabled me to achieve my biggest dreams and continue pushing others to unleash their own potential.

Natalia draws her inspiration from her mother and finds ways to empower her colleagues to succeed.

From the left, Natalia’s mother, Margaret and Natalia stand in front of the historic HP Garage.

What motivates me to push my limits? Staying true to myself.

My mother, who also works at HP, always taught me that I can have a career without sacrificing family, friends, and hobbies. I honor her teachings by embracing who I am: driven, analytical, and a people-person.

These characteristics and my love for numbers push me to create new ways to balance work while being an active member of the HP community.

One day, I hope to add a family to that list but for now, I will keep inspiring others in the pursuit of their dreams.
